The IDORI Leadership and Secretariat comprises : The Director, the Senior Scientific Advisor, Internal Advisory members, the Senior Program Manager, and the Research Administrator. The Director is also assisted by her Executive Assistant.

Glenda Gray

SENIOR MEMBER: Prof Gray is the Director of Wits IDORI. She was the first female President and CEO of the SAMRC, where she led the scientific strategy and prioritization of medical research in South Africa.

Bavesh Kana

SENIOR MEMBER: Prof Kana forms part of the Wits IDORI Advisory Committee, He directed the DSI/NRF Centre of Excellence for Biomedical Tuberculosis Research and he focused on developing new drugs, with a shorter treatment duration and fewer side effects.

Patrick Arbuthnot

SENIOR MEMBER: Prof Arbuthnot forms part of the Wits IDORI Advisory Committee. He investigated the development of gene therapy for treatment of liver cancer and HBV Infections; he established and directed the Antiviral Gene Therapy Research Unit (AGTRU) at Wits University.

Robert Breiman

SENIOR MEMBER: Prof Breiman is the Senior Scientific Advisor at Wits IDORI and former Wits IDORI Director.

Gladwin Gaehler

SECRETARIAT: Gladwin Gaehler is research administrator at Wits IDORI. He holds a Masters degree in Digital Media Ethics from Wits University and has a focus in digital media, events, VFX and marketing.

Katlego Nkala

SECRETARIAT: Katlego Nkala is an Executive PA to Prof Glenda Gray specialising in high-level administrative support, ensuring seamless executive operations and effective coordination for leadership initiatives.
